Who operates BagCheck
BagCheck is a personal, independent and non-commercial love project operated by Edward Kiledjian in Canada. It was built to solve a practical travel-planning problem, not to create a sales funnel. BagCheck is not sponsored by airlines or bag manufacturers, and I do not intend to monetize the site or visitor data.

What is handled and why
Privacy-focused analytics
Tinylytics receives the page path and title, referring site, timestamp, browser and platform information, a truncated user-agent string and approximate country. It uses rotating, one-way identifiers to estimate unique visits.
Purpose: understand aggregate use and improve BagCheck.Data on your device
Your unit preference, saved trips and cached bag or airline updates use browser local storage. This information stays on your device unless you deliberately share a generated trip link.
Purpose: remember choices and provide requested features.Hosting and security
Cloudflare and the site-hosting infrastructure may process standard request information such as IP address, requested URL, time and browser details to deliver and protect the site. BagCheck does not use those logs to profile visitors.
Purpose: site delivery, reliability, abuse prevention and security.Messages you send
If you email BagCheck, Fastmail processes your address, message and related delivery information. I use it only to answer the request, maintain necessary records or protect the site.
Purpose: respond to you and administer the project.Analytics choices
Tinylytics says its standard analytics do not use tracking cookies, persistent cross-site identifiers or fingerprinting, and that raw IP addresses are not stored in analytics hits. Country-level location and short-lived technical data are used to produce aggregate statistics. Optional Tinylytics AI insights are disabled for BagCheck.
To the extent analytics information is personal data under applicable law, BagCheck relies on its legitimate interest in understanding whether the site is useful, improving it and keeping it reliable. That interest is limited by data minimization, cookie-free analytics and the opt-out below.
The analytics opt-out stores a Tinylytics ignore flag in this browser so future visits are excluded. Clearing all browser storage may remove that preference.
Sharing, sale and international processing
BagCheck does not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, run targeted advertising or exchange visitor information for money or other benefits. Data is disclosed only to service providers needed to operate the site—principally Tinylytics, Cloudflare, the hosting service and Fastmail—or when required by law.
Tinylytics states that its analytics are hosted in Europe. Cloudflare and other providers may process information in Canada, the United States, Europe or other countries where they operate. Privacy protections in those locations may differ from those in your country.
Retention and security
Browser-saved BagCheck data remains until you clear it, use the control above or your browser removes it. Tinylytics states that user-agent strings and filtered server logs are deleted after seven days; aggregate analytics may remain while BagCheck uses the service and can be deleted from the Tinylytics account. Emails are kept only as long as reasonably needed for the conversation, administration, security or legal obligations.
BagCheck uses encrypted HTTPS connections and relies on access controls and provider security safeguards. No internet service can promise absolute security.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know or access information, correct it, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent where consent applies, receive portable data and complain to a privacy regulator. Email edward@bag-check.org to exercise a right. I may need enough information to verify and fulfil the request.
European privacy rights
GDPR rights may include access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. You may also complain to the supervisory authority where you live or work.
California privacy rights
California residents may have rights to know, delete and correct information; opt out of sale or sharing; limit certain sensitive-data uses; and receive equal service. BagCheck does not sell or share personal information for targeted advertising and does not use sensitive personal information.
Canadian privacy rights
Under PIPEDA and applicable provincial laws, you may request access or correction, ask how information is used or disclosed, withdraw consent where applicable, or challenge these practices. You may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Even where a particular law does not legally apply to this small non-commercial project, I will make reasonable efforts to honour the privacy choices described here. You will not be discriminated against for making a request.
Other sites, children and changes
BagCheck links to airlines, manufacturers and other independent websites. Their privacy practices apply when you visit them. BagCheck is intended for general travel planning and is not directed to children under 13. I do not knowingly collect information from children.
This notice may change if BagCheck’s features or providers change. The effective date above will be updated, and material changes will be presented clearly.
